Windorf Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a wolf rampant Gules.
In 1812 the town had not even proper seals. The first prove of the current arms was given in 1835. The red wolf is referring to the rule of the Bishopric of Passau until 1803. These arms were adopted without approval and used on the mayor's medal and all later seals. Literature from the 19th century confirms these arms. Only Hefner (1862) painted the wolf in proper colour, which was a geyish brown. The current pattern is based on a draft of Otto Hupp.
