Henfenfeld Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st quarter Sable a hemp blossom Or, 2nd quarter Or an eagle issuant Sable armed Gules, 3rd quarter Or three balls Gules ordered 1:2, 4th quarter Gules an annulet Argent, over all an inescutcheon parted per fess of Or, Azure and Argent.
The inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Lords of Henfenfeld, whose existence in service of the Bishopric of Bamberg is proven since 1059. The owners of the local castle changed frequently. The patrician kin of Pfinzing from Nürnberg acquired the castle in 1530 and kept it until 1764 and had been also the local manorial lord. Annulet and eagle issuant are taken from their family arms. Three balls are the attribute of St. Nicholas, the local patron saint. The blossom of hemp (German: Hanf, Latin: Cannabis sativa) is a canting element. The cultivation of hemp was finally replaced by the cultivation of flax
