Schallbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a bend Gules, at sinister Azure a horseshoe Argent.
The Lords of Rötteln, since 1315 the Margraves of Hachberg-Sausenberg and finally 1503 the Margraves of Baden had been local rulers. In the 18th century the reeve Ernst Friedrich of Leutrum mentioned a plough share as local symbol. A local seal from 1811 displayed plough share, horseshoe and an inesccutcheon with the 1807 version of the arms of Baden. The bend is alluding to Baden. The horseshoe is symbolising agriculture.
