Hofheim Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a bearded saint in half length portrait, dressed Azure and nimbed Or, at dexter in front of the saint a sinister facing Paschal Lamb couchant Argent without flag on a book Gules, base parted per fess dancetty with three points of Gules and Argent.
The base displays the so called Franconian rake and is alluding to the Bishopric of Würzburg, which owned parts of the city since the 12th century. The saint is St. John the Baptist, recognisable by his attributes book and lamb, the local patron saint. Already the oldest city seals from the 15th and early 16th century displayed the saint issuant with his attributes. Since the end of the 16th century the saint was depicted statant completely. Attempts to change the arms in 1938 failed. The current pattern is based on a draft made by Otto Hupp and is in use after WW2.
