The lodge is a representation of the local castle, which had been built by the Palatine Counts of Haunsheim and Reiffenegg from the Geizkofler kin. The chamois (German: Gemse or Geiß) is the canting heraldic animal of the kin. The pattern is known by a seal print from 1655 with circumscription "SIGILLVM COMMVNITATIS IN HAVNSHEIM".
