Gleißenberg Coat of Arms

Shield Sable three sinister pointing piles Argent, chief Argent a fess embattled-counterembattled Azure.
The piles, also called wolf teeth, are taken from the Hausner in Gleißenberg family, who lived until 1400 on a nearby castle. The fess on chief is taken from the arms of the Lords of Schwarzenburg, who had been commissionaires of the Wittelsbach kin until the beginning of the 14th century. They lived in the Schwarzenburg Castle near Rötz. The village belonged to the Lordship of Schwarzenburg-Rötz-Waldmünchen since the 14th century. The lordship was pawned several times and final sold to the Palatine Electorate in 1509.
