I confess I was quite ashamed to report details to the list. :-\ My russian language skills were good enough to understand the text, but not good enough to compose a well deserved rebuttal. I might do it in english, if I ever find an e-mail address to send it to. Anyway, the so-called journalist who wrote this story failed to give to his readers a vital piece of info: the url of the FOTW-ws page about Yaroslavl. Reading this page, it is clear to any honest and not completely stupid one that this design is reported on our page just for information sake, and that the real flag of the region (white, yellow and green) is adequately covered. It is also clear that the the guilty party of having confused a russian national flag plus a piece of wall with a new local flag is not me, but Petr Exner. I, as editor, just created an image upon description. It is ironical that I get to be blamed of this piece of ill vexillology, as it is the kind of "research" I always fought (or rather grumbled ;-) against. Anyway, we have now the issue completely solved, with the yellow, red and blue flag definitively exposed as an observation mistake, including the photo which originated it. Still to be clarified are the words of mr. Diunov, stating that he was in charge of the design of the real flag and CoA of Yaroslav Region, and that these symbols are not approved yet (the article is not dated), while we have on FOTW-ws positive info about approval date, decree number, etc. Perhaps Pascal Gross could activate his local contact on this point?
