On 2 March 2012, Melody Bodette reported on "Vermont Public Radio" that
Monkton voters are expected to pick up a flag on Town Meeting Day. The flag
contest was organized by Jonathan Corcoran, from the Monkton Community
Coffeehouse, in the context of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the
town. Out of 34 submitted proposals, a panel of eight judges selected five

preferred designs. The new flag will be unveiled on 24 June 2012. The proposed
designs were kept "secrete" but some information leaked. Corcoran said that
