This is how we celebrate Midsummer in Sweden. Note the use of flags: http://www.videoboom.se/svensk-midsommar-ikea/

On a more serious note: in some parts of Sweden, it is considered correct to have the flag up all night during the night between Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day. This is however the only night when this is OK. (Since Sweden is pretty far up north, the nights never gets totaly dark around midsummer.)

According to another tradition, it is OK to steal a flag which is up all night (i.e. on another night than the Midsummer night). The reason behind this is, that the owner of the flag obviously is not paying due respect to the flag. However, I doubt this would hold in court.
