About the flag

Some time the Portuguese Olympic Committee had changed its logo (and its name too, from «…Português» to «…de Portugal»?…) — perhaps one year ago or so. You can see the new logo at their site, under seemingly eternal construction, at www.comiteolimpicoportugal.pt — actually you can see the logo and nothing more. I haven’t seen it yet on flags (now being the low season for Olympics in a country without winter sports), but I must assume that new flags exist, with this new logo on white.

Previous flag

The Olympic movement rules require the national Olympic committees’ flags to include the Olympic rings not larger then 1/3 of the flag.
Željko Heimer Heimer

That’s perhaps why the Portuguese O.C. changed its logo and flag: the previous flag had the Olympic emblem much larger than 1/3 of its height…

Official version(?)

This is the former flag of the Portuguese Olympic Commitee (Comité Olímpico Português), showing their logo on a white background (what else?). The logo is the five Olympic rings and an eschuteon of Portugal ancienne (a stylized version of the 1185 flag and arms, showing only five bezants on modern looking escutcheons, like the inner part of Portugal moderne). This escutcheon cover the lower parts of the yellow ring (fly side) and of the green ring (hoist side).

It can be seen in the (hidden but still available) previous version of their site, at www.comiteolimpicoportugal.pt/cop/cop?.html, slightly asymmetrical.
