It is a fairly typical portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a plain green background. Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República : III Série in 2001.07.16.

The arms are Argent an olive tree Vert erradicated and fruited of the Same between two garbs Vert tied Gules and on a base wavy Azure two barrulets wavy Argent. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "Assunção — Arronches". Original blazon:

Escudo de ouro, oliveira de verde arrancada do mesmo e frutada de negro, entre duas gavelas de espigas de trigo de verde, atadas de vermelho; campanha de burelas ondeadas de azul e prata. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas: "ASSUNÇÃO - ARRONCHES".

The arms are Argent two lozenges Sable set in fess the dexter charged with a deer head arased Or and the sinister with a nanny goat head erased Or and in chief a fleur de lis Azure emphasized Or and in base a tree Vert. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "Esperança — Arronches". Original blazon:

Escudo de prata, duas lisonjas de negro, carregada uma de um perfil de veado de ouro e outra de um perfil de cabra do mesmo, alinhadas em faixa; em chefe, flor-de-lis de azul, realçada de ouro; em campanha, uma árvore de verde. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro: "ESPERANÇA - ARRONCHES".
