Established in 1300 by the Knight Nawoj of Tęczyn.
The last owners of the area (since 1870 until 1945), the Stadnicki family, are credited with the development of the commune, nature preservation and general benevolence toward the inhabitants of their domain. They built a splendid palace where they received many intellectuals, especially botanists, from all over Europe.
The biggest social event happened in January 1937, when Adam Stadnicki played host to the visiting newlyweds from the Netherlands - Princess (later Queen) Juliana and Prince Bernard zur Lippe-Biesterfeld. Stadnicki organized a big hunt for them, which the royal couple found unforgettable. (Prince Bernard later became chairperson of the World Wildlife Fund).
Arms and flag adopted on March 31, 2004 (resolution # XXI/119/04).
"Arms: on the red field and on the golden hill the defensive tower (white) with two black firing openings (windows).
On the right side of the tower there is an axe from the Coat of Arms of the Knight Nawoj - founder of the village. On the left is a Polish heraldic charge called " krzywasn" from the Coat of Arms "Szreniawa" of the Lubomirski family and the Coat of Arms "Druzyna" of the Stadnicki family, the last owners.
("Krzywasn" is another of the so difficult to translate terms. The closest I can do is to translate it as "crooked" - couldn't find any other translation on the web. This charge is, obviously, influenced by the Tatar tamgas).
Flag: a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 composed of three vertical bands
1:2:1 in colors of: red-white-red.
On the white, widest band, the Arms are placed centrally."
