The mayor insisted on a change to the flag, resulting in the logo on an off-centered North Macedonian national flag design.

Former flag

The [former] flag of Novaci (Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website, page no longer online), is red with an asymmetrical yellow sun with 16 yellow rays. Over the sun is placed a blue Cyrillic letter Н (Latin, N), whose horizontal arm is charged with the name of the municipality in white Cyrillic letters.
The emblem is based on the municipal arms.

The municipal symbols are prescribed in the Municipal Statutes, adopted on 15 November 2002, as follows:

Article 6.
The municipality shall have a coat of arms.
Article 7.
The municipality shall have a flag.

The municipal website shows a drawing of the flag, which differs from the image shown on top of this page in a few details: the name of the municipality is omitted from the horizontal arm of the blue "H" (the Cyrillic version of the Latin "N", for "Novaci") and the sun is vertically mirrored.
However, a TV-footage (Orbis TV), dated 18 January 2009, shows the Mayor of Novaci, Lazar Koterski, interviewed in his office; the municipal flag behind him does bear the name of the municipality on it - on the video (1:55-3:00; 3:20-3:40; 3:45-4:45), the letter "H", sans-serifed, is clearly visible, as well as the left part of the "O".
Accordingly, the image shown on this page is correct - only a minor correction of the writing's font is required to match the flag in real use.

Former municipality of Bač

The municipality of Bač (963 inhabitants in 1994) was incorporated into Novaci in 2004.
The flag of Bač (Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website, page no longer online), is in proportion 3:5, diagonally divided blue over green. The lower right quarter of a yellow sun is placed in the canton of the flag, from which eight yellow rays stretch over the whole flag.
The sun clearly recalls the Macedonian national flag.
