Kuki Moritaka

In 1597, he succeeded to the governor and became the lord of Toba Castle in Shima Province, a castle of 30,000 goku. The Kuki were a maritime family skilled in navigating ships, and his father Yoshitaka was selected by Nobunaga as a naval general and defeated the Mouri navy in the Seto Inland Sea. In the Battle of Sekigahara Kuki Moritaka were on the eastern side of the battle of Sekigahara, and the father and son fought against each other. The war banner has red and blue horizontal stripes with white seven circles on the upper stripe. The seven circles represent the Big Dipper served as a compass at sea. As a maritime family, they used the "seven circles" emblem, which was said to help them escape from unexpected disasters.
