Presentation of Sikirevci

Sikirevci is located some 40 km east of Slavonski Brod. Population is 2,700 with 2,000 living in the village of the same name. The base of the economy is still mostly agriculture.
The municipal website shows the motto of the village, Sikirevci selo u dva reda, izaleka ko Osik izgleda, which is obviously a rhyme from a typical folk song of the region and could be translated more or less as "Sikirevci a village in two rows, from afar it looks like Osijek". The two rows refer to the typical rural organization of houses next to each other along the main road with economic buildings and fields behind those. Since the liberation from the Turks, the village has been the seat of the 5th company of the Brod Regiment, therefore, the seat of military administration of certain level in the Croatian-Slavonian Military Border.
