Flag of Okučani

The symbols of Okučani are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi općine Okučani, adopted on 8 February 2002 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 15 March 2002 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske županije, No. 3.

The symbols of Okučani were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration.

The flag (photo) is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle. The flag is explicitly prescribed to be of a darker blue shade than the coat of arms.

The coat of arms is "Azure a thunderbolt proper".
The thunderbolt is the heraldic charge that represents lightning, inherited from the antique symbols of Jupiter. It is shaped as a golden cigar with wings, arrows radiating from it and fire from one end. The thunderbolt probably refers to the Flash (Bljesak) Operation, performed by the Croatian Defence Forces in May 1995 and liberating the region in just a few days. Okučani and the surrounding region was known as Western Slavonia, as a part of the separatist Serbian Republic of Krajina.
