The symbols of Kapela are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Kapela, adopted on 18 March 2013 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 11 April 2013 in the County official gazette Županijski glasnik Bjelovarsko-bilogorske županije, No. 2.

The flag is described as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Kapela is of golden yellow colour, with the coat of arms of the Municipality of Kapela. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 1:2. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag and takes up 2/5 of the flag.

The flag in actual use, however, is vertical with the arms near the top.

The coat of arms is described in the Statutes as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Kapela is in a shield shape, divided into four fields. The top left field is empty, coloured red and square in shape, while the top right field is white with a cross set diagonally. The bottom left field is green with a golden corn ear set vertically, while the right bottom field is empty and coloured red.

The colour of the cross in the second field is not mentioned, and we know that the coat of arms is used with either a black or red cross.

A variant of the arms was also in use, with the cross being red and set upright in the corner of the field while the field contained the depiction of the local church on a green low hill. The shield is surrounded with a golden ribbon bearing the name of the municipality. These arms were used at least yet in 2007, as could be seen on a charter issued by the municipality. I assume that the church was removed after the suggestion from the central authorities, since there are already way to many municipal coats of arms showing churches. A similar variant with a silver ribbon, but the black cross in bend was used in 2009.
