History of Regad

Regad was founded in 1861 in Marseilles to operate lines to the Algerian ports of Philippeville, Bône and Alexandria. The first vessel of the company was SS Jean-Baptiste, purchased in 1861 from Altaras, Caune et Cie and lost on fire off the Lipari islands (Italy) in 1864. The second ship of the company was SS Malartic, purchased in 1863 and sold in January 1867, when the company winded up.
