Symbols of Villanueva de Ávila

The flag and arms of Villanueva de Ávila are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 11 June 1999 by the Municipal Council, signed on 6 September 1999 by the Mayor, and published on 16 September 1999 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 180, p. 9,148 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular flag with blue, yellow and green colors arranged in vertical stripes. In the middle is placed the municipal coat of arms of Villanueva de Ávila.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Azure a hill or ... argent, 2. Vert a building argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown.

The Royal Academy of History recalled "one more time" that the charges of the coats of arms should be represented in a generic manner. However, the proposed arms of Villanueva de Ávila include realistic representations of a hill and a building. The proposed flag could be accepted, provided a new design of the coat of arms is proposed (Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia 198, 3: 562, 2001).
