Banner

Description of banner:
It is a red - white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is placed into the centre of a squarish white bannerhead.
Description of coat of arms:
In a red field are two silver (=white) swords crossed saltirishly.
Meaning:
According to Veddeler 2003, p.216 the arms are canting and the existence can be proved on seals since 1427. The current colours were fixed in 1947. Until 1909 there were black swords in a blue field. Due to basic heraldic rules the background was changed into silver in 1911. Those arms can also be seen on Ralf Hartemink's website.
