Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above is a silver(=white) field divided by a black cross. The field below is divided per pale. The dexter side shows an upright blue key in a silver(white) field, the sinister side shows in a red field a silver(=white) demi-eagle, armed and tongued blue.
Meaning:
According to source According to source the cross is symbolizing the archbishopric and electorate of Köln. Lambert von Reimbach ceded his local rights to archbishop Walram of Köln in 1342. The key is symbolizing St.Peter, the patron of the archbishopric and the local parish church as well. The eagle is taken from the arms of the counts of Hochstaden, who had been the local administraors of the archbishopric. The image could be proved first on a seal from 1365.
