Shield parted per pale; at dexter Gules hammer and mallet Argent in saltire, at sinister Argent; on top of a mount issuant Vert a fir of the same, both couped per pale, the fir supported by a lion rampant Gules tongued Vert.
    Meaning:
Fir and lion are taken from the arms of the Counts of Dannenberg, former local rulers. Hammer and mallet as symbols of mining are alluding to the depletion of potash salt and the local gypsum factory. According to Hans-Heinz Schütt the lion is tongued Gules.
