Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
In golden (=yellow) shield is divided by two red, horizontal, indented lines. Above the lines is a red statant lion.
According to source the ensemble is alluding to a fight between count Friedrich of Rastede against a fierce lion, which took place in the city of Goslar in 1059. The legend says, that the emporer himself used the blood of the killed lion to paint two wavy lines onto the golden shield of the winner. On the other hand the indented lines are known as Ammerian fesses, which could be found on seals of /count Moritz von Oldenburg/ about 1200.
