The coat of arms of Brod is prescribed in Article 7 of the Amendments to the Municipal Statutes Statut o izmjenama i dopunama Statuta opštine Bosanski Brod, adopted on 22 September 2009 by the Municipal Assembly and published on 29 September 2009 in the Municipal official gazette Službeni glasnik opštine Bosanski Brod, No. 11 (text). This is repeated in the consolidated Statutes Statut opštine Brod (Prečišćeni tekst), adopted on 27 October 2009 and published on 29 October 2009 in Službeni glasnik Opštine Brod, No. 12 (text).

The coat of arms is described as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality is shaped as a shield of irregular shape with symmetrical heraldic sides (left and right); the border of the shield is golden yellow, made as a ornated woodcut.
The contents of the coat of arms are as follows. The interior of the coat of arms is divided into three parts, coloured in red, blue and white, like the flag of Republika Srpska to which the Municipality of Brod belongs. The central part of the coat of arms contains a graphic depiction showing the coupling of economy and agriculture in the municipality. In the base of the coat of arms is depicted afactory with chimneys, primarily representing the chimneys of the oil refinery and other economic bodies involved in production. Above the symbol is a cog wheel that lifts and links agriculture of the region and puts it in the place of honour in the shield. Agriculture is depicted with two symmetrical golden wheat spikes symbolizing the fertile plain. Above all dominates a flaming torch symbolizing progress. In the background of the coat of arms, in its upper part the silohuette of Mount Vučjak is visible, raising from left to right, showing only a part of the mountain, considering that it is not situated entirely in the municipality of Brod. Under the coat of arms is a golden yellow ribbon, n, in which it is inscribed in Cyrillic and Latin script the name of the municipality "БРОД - BROD".

The coat of arms of the municipality shall be used on letterheads of the official acts of the Administrative Service of the municipality of Brod, on letterheads of the official acts of the Municipal Assembly, in the assembly hall of the Municipal Assembly, on the building of the Municipality of Brod and at visible locations in its official premises. The coat of ars of the Municipality of Brod can be used by public companies and public institutions established by the Municipality of Brod.

In other words, the coat of arms of Brod is an oval shield within a golden cartouche divided into red over blue over white, with overall a black factory with smoking chimneys and a demi cog wheel in the base and a golden wreath with a flaming torch in the chief and a white line broken three times raising from dexter to sinister. On a golden ribbon beneath the shield is inscribed in white the name of the municipality in Cyrillic and Latin script.
