Quoting Tjednik (Zagreb, 19 September 1997):

These days, after a long time, it was again noted a concordant point of view of the Croat and Bosniak sides in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Serb side is still giving some troubles: if it is to be believed to the official statement of Mariofil Ljubić, a member of the joint commission for making the state coat of arms and the flag, it is only waiting the principal acceptance of Serbs and the new flag would be flown all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is less known which of the proposed designs in an already tightened choice is most preferred to (at least) Bosniaks and Croats, since there are no less than three designs that have found their way to the public. The misfortunate fleur-de-lis, that would in other circumstances be the ideal neutral solution, will be replaced with a green-red-blue tricolour, with a colour distribution similar to the Czech flag, or maybe a light blue flag with a golden olive branch. The third design mentioned is also on light blue background, with the outline of Bosnia and Herzegovina in internationally recognized borders.

Several proposals were presented in TV news, all based on the four designs shown above (with variations in the order of the colors):
- a diagonally striped tricolour of red-white-blue with the blue map of Bosnia and Herzegovina outlined in yellow in the middle inside a circle of 10 five-pointed yellow stars. Proportions 1:2;
- the same design, butwith 12 yellow stars;
- a similar diagonal tricolour but with an even wider white stripe, with a yellow map of Bosnia and Herzegovina outlined in green and flanked with a green olive wreath exactly the same as in the United Nations emblem;
- an horizontal tricolour of blue, white and red with the same emblem in the middle.
