The DPSS was the successor of the "Imperial Junior Sailing Club", that seceded from the "Wynnum Manly Sailing Club" in 1927 and was renamed in 1930 the "Darling Point 10ft Flying Squadron".

The burgee of DPSS is blue with a white Maltese cross charged with a red disk in the middle and the white letters "DPSS" placed horizontally between the cross and the point of the burgee.
